Practicing Effective Web Site Design
Practicing effective web site design is the goal of any business, organization, or person on the web. But unfortunately as more information goes online, the more I see sites that seem to stray further away from incorporating effective principles of good web design.i-Tekk Web Design has developed web sites for approximately six years, and since then it seems as though millions of pages have shown up on the Internet every month. Using web authoring packages to create web pages has become so easy that even the technically challenged can use them to create interesting web pages.
Even though web authoring packages provide the technical coding that web browser needs to display the web page, it’s the responsibility of the designer to supply the creative talent that makes your site attract a steady stream of visitors.
Over the years I have view so many web pages that were so poorly designed that I decided to write this four part series to address some of the issues that could help determine if you are practicing effective web design with the web pages that you develop. This series is based on sound principles that developers use to make their web pages useful yet interesting. We will break this series down into for key areas; Content Considerations, Navigation Issues, Watch Aesthetics, and Don’t Forget Optimization. Suggestion on good practices, tips you can implement, and considerations to guide your decisions, is what you will be getting.
By no means are these issues addressed exhaustively, but gives useful information that can be immediately implemented. We hope that you will use these articles test your web pages against, and make you pages pleasing to the eyes, pleasing to your visitors, and easy to navigate. Good luck, and let’s begin.
